The smaller, the better? Quantum physics describes how elementary particles, atoms, and other tiny objects behave. It is completely different than we, who live in a world of big things, would expect. Researchers in the Department of Physics are bringing quantum theory and quantum practice together. They are working on the fundamentals for new secure communication systems, simulators of quantum materials, and the quantum computer, which would be able to outdo by far even the supercomputers we have today.
