No longer science fiction. In 2011 an autonomous vehicle made its way through downtown Berlin for the first time. Researchers from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science had equipped it with laser scanners, cameras, radars, and the necessary software. The driving goal: to make autonomous mobility safe enough for everyday use.
