Berlin Science Week: Mexican Science Day "Science connects: Mexico & Germany – Beyond Now”
Science without borders: Mexico and Germany explore innovation, AI and global cooperation at the Mexican Science Day, November 4 in Berlin.
As part of the Berlin Science Week the Embassy of Mexico in Germany, in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), presents the tenth edition of the Mexican Science Day: “Science Connects: Mexico & Germany –Beyond Now”. Picking up on the theme “Beyond Now”, this first joint venture project between the Mexican Embassy and the BMFTR invites us to think beyond the present moment, promote sustainable solutions, foster transformative thinking, and strengthen the role of science in building resilient, fair, and collaborative futures. This vision fully aligns with the strategic goals of Mexico and Germany: two countries strongly committed to scientific diplomacy and international cooperation as essential tools for addressing today’s global challenges.
The programme is divided into two parts: The first part focuses on AI as a crosscutting element in science, innovation, science communication and also in art, which concludes with a live performance by artist Gesine Born.
The second part of the programme centers on the German-Mexican bilateral scientific cooperation. In panel discussions Mexican and German stakeholders will exchange their views on topics ranging from current opportunities and challenges, strategic and political aspects, and how to align national science, technology, and innovation agendas with global priorities. Each panel encourages open dialogue between experts and the audience to identify synergies and shared challenges.
A highlight of the day is the “Science Slam”, where six early-career scientists-finalists will be pitching their proposals for thematic workshops in Mexico on key topics of bilateral cooperation. The top three winners receive financial support from the BMFTR to carry out their proposed workshops in Mexico.
