Siegfried Unseld Vorlesung

Since 2012, the Dahlem Humanities Center has organized the Siegfried Unseld Lecture together with Suhrkamp Verlag. The lecture, which bears the name of the publishing house's longtime director, who died in 2002, is devoted primarily to the question of the relationship between literature and society: for example, the relationships between literature and politics or contemporary history, between literature and religion or myth.

The lecture series aims at contributing to the public dialogue between literature, media and the humanities, and to augment the university’s role as a forum for intellectual exchange between the arts and academia.

Each lecture is followed by a workshop during which PhD candidates and students have the opportunity of engaging in an intensive discussion with the guest author.
