The research unit Macrosociology investigates differences in attitudes and behaviour between European countries and over time. Our main research endeavour is to understand (1) why citizens from different countries vary (or not) in their attitudes and behaviour and (2) why citizens' attitudes and behaviour vary (or not) over time. In our comparative approach, we focus in particular on attitudes towards immigration, the EU, denationalisation, identity politics and social policies. We are looking for a student assistant with an interest in the field of attitudinal, migration / diversity or transnationalization research.

Job description:
- carry out extensive online literature searches & summarize findings in English
- quantitative analyses of data sets with STATA or R
- provide general project assistance

Desirable:
- enrolled in Sociology or a related field
- fluent written and spoken English (C1)
- analytical reasoning & ability to summarize a large body of scientific literature
- interest in attitudinal, migration / diversity or transnationalization research & familiarity with related literature
- working knowledge of syntax based statistical software (preferably Stata or R)
- knowledge of a further European language is beneficial (at least A1-level)
