Research assistant (postdoc) (m/f/d) full-time job limited to 31.12.2027 salary grade (Entgeltgruppe) 13 TV-L FU reference code: Clementi-EVF_Postdoc_2025
Bewerbungsende: 04.08.2025
The Clementi's group in the Physics Department at Freie Universität Berlin seeks a postdoctoral researcher (100%) to work on the development and application of new methodologies to discover new concepts and compositions for high-performance electrolytes for emergent electrochemical device technologies such as redox flow batteries.
Next generation energy storage and chemical transformation devices require major advances in electrolyte composition to achieve safer and more efficient performance. Such advances will be realized through an exploration of properties or mechanisms not exploited in conventional electrolytes.
This position is part of the Einstein Visiting Fellowship of Professor Mark. E. Tuckerman from New York University, and the project will be in collaboration with Professor Tuckerman.
Job description:
- first-principle modeling and simulations of electrolytes
- development of new machine learning strategies and quantum simulation approaches
- application of specially developed approaches to electrolyte systems
Requirements:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, or related fields.
Desirable:
- English language fluent, spoken and written
- excellent theoretical and practical experience with machine learning methods, especially for training of machine learning potentials
- development and utilization of ab initio electronic-structure methodology
- previous experience with multiscale modelling of materials
- previous experience with molecular dynamics simulations
