Bewerbungsende: 27.10.2025
The research of the working group "Weather and Climate Processes" headed by Stephan Pfahl covers various aspects of atmospheric dynamics, extreme weather events and the atmospheric water cycle. Numerical models of varying complexity and different observational data sets are used to study atmospheric processes and phenomena on time scales ranging from single weather events to long term climate change.
Job description:
The research assistant will work on the project “Understanding future changes in the frequency of dry days (DryDays)”, which is funded by the German Research Foundation. The project aims to investigate future changes in the frequency of dry days and the underlying processes based on the analysis of global climate simulations. The third-party-funded research project offers the opportunity to pursue a doctorate.
Requirements:
Completed university degree in atmospheric sciences, mathematics or physics (master's degree).
Desirable:
Research experience in atmospheric dynamics and the atmospheric water cycle. Experience in data analysis using Python, R, or a comparable programming language, as well as in statistics. Fluency in English and the ability to work in a team.
