VOICES is a multidisciplinary project in history, computer science, and engineering that studies testimonies of Holocaust survivors. For this, it uses computational technology (specifically, multimodal modelling) focusing on the complete spectrum of human communication channels. It aims to understand how women and men remember about their time in Nazi concentration camps, as well as the way memory, trauma and history are entangled.
 
Job description:
In close coordination with the project management and the other project members, the computer-assisted analysis of interviews with Holocaust survivors will be tested and reviewed at various levels as part of the project. As part of the position, extensive case studies and interview analyses will be carried out and the research results of the project will be integrated into the current discourses of trauma studies and related fields of research. Specifically, memos are to be produced on an ongoing basis and fed into the joint work processes; close cooperation between the entire team is central. As part of the position, the role of first author should be assumed for at least two publications in specialist journals (peer review).
 
Requirements:
PhD in Psychology, Gender Studies or film studies

Desirable:
- relevant knowledge in trauma studies
- Knowledge in the field of qualitative methods of interview evaluation
- Knowledge of quantitative data collection and analysis
- Knowledge of French
- Willingness to learn Phyton as a programming language
- Experience in analyzing non-verbal communication
- Specialist knowledge of the history of the Shoah, trauma research, genocide studies
