The Pagel research group focuses on the structural analysis of biological macromolecules and their non-covalent complexes in the gas phase. Particular emphasis is placed on the application of ion mobility-mass spectrometry (IM-MS) and gas-phase spectroscopy for the characterization and sequencing of complex carbohydrates, as well as the investigation of protein folding, misfolding, and assembly.
Job description:
- Research in the field of structural biology and glycobiology
- supervision of scientific staff and students
- participation in teaching. There is a teaching obligation according to the Teaching Obligation Regulation (LVVO)
- participation in academic self-administration
Requirements:
- Completed academic university degree (Master’s or Diploma) in Chemistry or Biochemistry
- completed PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry
- at least three years of scientific or professional-practical experience in a full-time position after completing the university degree.
(Professional) Experience:
- Experience with protein expression
- experience with enzyme expression, specifically glycosidases and glycosyltransferases
- at least three years of professional experience in research and teaching in the field of chemistry or biochemistry.
Desirable:
- Experience with protein analysis methods
- experience in structural biology
- experience with enzymes, particularly glycosidases and glycosyltransferases
- experience with chromatographic separation techniques
- good proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- several publications in internationally recognized journals
- very good proficiency in German
