The Heinke group deals with novel functional materials, in particular with thin films of nanoporous metal-organic frameworks, and their physicochemical properties. State-of-the-art spectroscopy techniques are used to enhance the understanding of interactions at the molecular level. The focus is on diffusion and adsorption of guest molecules in the pores, ionic conductivity and (opto-) electronic properties of these functional films as well as their applications, e.g. for molecular separation and as unique sensors. “Smart” materials with remotely controllable properties, in particular by light, are also produced and researched.
Job description:
Nanoporous thin films of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are to be produced and investigated. These films will be loaded with ionic liquids (ILs) and the properties of the IL@MOF films will be investigated. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the interaction and dynamic properties of the guest molecules and ions in the nanopores, especially under the influence of an external electric field. Various spectroscopic techniques are used for this purpose. The work is part of the ERC project DYONCON.
You will work in a multidisciplinary and international environment, in close collaboration with the group and our external partners.
Requirements:
PhD and Master's degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, chemical engineering or a related subject
Desirable:
• Experience in one (or more) of the following areas is beneficial: metal-organic frameworks; adsorption and diffusion; ionic liquids; membrane separation, electrochemistry and/or electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
• A strong motivation for research and good experimental skills
• You must have excellent written and oral English skills and organizational skills. In addition, German language skills would be an advantage, but are not required.
• You should have the ability to work both independently and in a team.
