De-escalation Workshop for Students | “Assertiveness, Confidence in Action, and Setting Boundaries in Unpleasant and Threatening Situations” (in English)

02.12.2025 | 10:00 - 14:00

Facilitator’s announcement:

Even though many students generally feel safe in the university environment, unpleasant or unsettling situations cannot be ruled out here either. Crossing verbal boundaries, threatening behavior, or intrusive advances are just a few examples. This workshop provides and develops, together with participants, practical and appropriate options for action in such and comparable situations.
A basic willingness to actively participate and to try out practical exercises is required – always in line with the principle of voluntariness.
Participants will learn to recognize potentially threatening situations at an earlier stage, to assess them more realistically, and to respond with greater clarity, confidence, and competence.

Contents:

– Setting clear boundaries against inappropriate advances
– Confidently rejecting unwanted physical contact
– Acting with civil courage to protect others (emergency assistance)
– Assessing and handling escalating situations
– Preventive strategies and self-protection in risky situations
– Stress regulation in acute threatening situations
– Opportunities and risks of self-defense tools
– Coping better with distressing experiences

The workshop will be held in English (die gleiche Veranstaltung auf Deutsch hier).
