We will look at how modern Jewish thinkers writing in Hebrew have tried to respond to a conflict that many saw as inevitable or inescapable. Since these philosophers wrote mainly for specific Hebrew-speaking audiences, their ideas are not well known to a broader public. We will hear from thinkers with very different perspectives, including religious Zionist views, religious and secular critiques, and legal-philosophical frameworks.
