Empowerment Workshop for FLINTA* Students | „Empowerment through Feminist Self-assertion and Self-defence“ (in English)

19.11.2024 | 14:00 s.t. - 18:00

The workshop will take place in cooperation with the Gender*Equality Team and is part of this year's "Support the University - Take a Stand against Sexualized Harassment, Discrimination and Violence" campaign on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25.

In this workshop, FLINTA* students will learn about sexualized discrimination and violence and gain strategies to empower themselves if they experience such violence.

Sexualized discrimination and violence is not an exceptional phenomenon for many people who are socialised or seen as females, but an everyday reality. The workshop provides information about sexualized discrimination and violence as well as strategies to strengthen oneself before or after experiencing violence, to network with each other and to show solidarity. We will work with exercises from bodywork as well as feminist self-assertion and self-defence in order to strengthen confidence in one's own needs and boundaries, to communicate these and to be able to defend oneself physically in an emergency. Calm perception exercises and roleplay form the basis of the workshop, as do feeling our strength in boxing and using our voices loudly.

The workshop is aimed at all FLINTA* students. All bodies are expressly welcome, regardless of their physical condition. No previous knowledge is necessary.

What to bring with you: Comfortable clothing, a pair of thick socks, enough to drink, if possible your own yoga mat or blanket

The workshop will be held in English (die gleiche Veranstaltung auf Deutsch hier).

Participation: up to 25 people

Please note that this workshop is for FLINTA* students only. FLINTA stands for Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Trans and Agender. The asterisk at the end is intended to include additional variations of gender diversity.
