Required documents for Bachelor´s, State Exam, Erste Juristische Prüfung and Master´s Programs
For new enrollments in Master's programs, all points except 7, 8, 9, 10, 14 apply.
For students already enrolled at Freie Universität Berlin who wish to change to a program leading to a Bachelor's degree or a State Examination, points 4, 5, 11, 12 do not apply.
For students already enrolled at Freie Universität Berlin who wish to change to a Master´s degree program, points 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 do not apply.
For enrollment, we need the following documents from you:
1. Notice(s) of admission or, in the case of admission-free degree programs, the notification of enrollment
2. Control view from the online data entry
3. Completed application for enrollment
4. Valid identification document (e.g., passport or ID) verifying your complete surname, first name, date of birth, and expiration date.
You are permitted to black out all other sections. Information on enrollment with a name that differs from your birth name can be found on our website.
5. Electronic proof of health insurance status dirctly submitted by a German statutory health insurance provider
The health insurance provider will either inform us that you are covered by statutory health insurance or that you are exempt from the statutory insurance obligation (e.g. private insurance or EHIC etc.). Please inform the health insurance provider of the FU Berlin sender number: H0000657. Explanations on how to apply for electronic proof can be found here (chip card, paper certificate are not sufficient).
Please submit the enrollment application by the deadline! The electronic notification can also be sent to us by the responsible health insurance provider after the end of the enrollment period.
Students over the age of 30 are not required to provide proof of health insurance.
6. Certificate of eligibility for university study, in the case of foreign university entrance qualifications, an official translation into German or English and the VPD (preliminary review documentation)
7. If applicable, proof of sufficient German language skills if you have a foreign certificate of eligibility for university study
8. If applicable, the proof of the required language skills/result of the FU language test if the required foreign language skills are not evident from the school leaving certificate
You can find out which modules are affected by the information on the study programs. The dates of the language tests can be found on the website of the Language Center.
9. If applicable, placement notice for previous studies, issued by the appropriate board of examiners/department representative (not applicable for Master)
10. Current registration certificate on your principal residence at a custodial person (e.g. parent, guardian) at application time
Only relevant if admitted within the contingent for minors (indicated by the ranking on the notice of admission)
11. If applicable, last enrollment certificate from a German university, stating the subject and number of subject-related and university semesters (not applicable if you last studied at Freie Universität Berlin)
12. If applicable, a certificate of removal from the student register at the last German university attended
13. If applicable, university degree certificate (in the case of foreign university degree certificates, an official translation into German or English and the VPD (preliminary review documentation). Not applicable if you earned your degree at Freie Universität Berlin
14. If applicaple, any supporting documents as stated in the application
e.g. proof of a study-relevant vocational training, professional activity, practical activity, study preparatory course or study aptitude test for the bachelor’s degree program in psychology (only relevant for restricted first-semester undergraduate degree programs)
15. Transfer voucher with the date of transfer for the semester fees and contributions (including fees for the Deutschlandsemesterticket)

Otherwise, the enrollment will be delayed because the missing amount has to be reclaimed. In addition, when you transfer the missing amount, you still have to pay the additional transfer fees.
Enrollment will not take place until the corresponding amount has been received in full on the account of Freie Universität Berlin and when all other requirements have been met.

- The e-mail addresses listed here are only for submitting applications for enrollment / applications for change degree programs. If you have any further questions about enrollment, please contact the Info-Service Studium or refer to our "FAQ Enrollment" page, as the e-mail addresses provided ("imma-xxx@studium.fu-berlin.de") will not answer any questions. - Accepted file formats are pdf, jpeg, png, bmp, docx with a maximum size of 2MB each. We do not accept links to external storage locations (cloud) or zip files. Save all required documents individually and name them according to their content.
- After you have submitted your enrollment documents, you will receive an automatically generated confirmation of receipt and, if necessary, a request for missing documents. Please check your spam folder if necessary.
- If you are interested in an undergraduate degree program without admission restrictions in addition to your application for a degree program with admission restrictions or for a Master's degree program, please wait for the decision of the admission procedures before enrolling in a degree program without admission restrictions.
- If you have already submitted an application for enrollment and decide to pursue a different degree program, please be sure to withdraw your non-preferred application in the application portal, as multiple active applications for enrollment may result in you being enrolled in an undesired degree program.
