The central contact point for all kind of requests about your studies is located in Iltisstr. 4, subway station Dahlem-Dorf. On the ground floor employees of the Info-Service Studium receive the visitors. On the first and second floor the offices of the General Academic Advising, the Psychological Counseling and the International Student Mobility – Welcome Services are resided. Further facilities also offer their service in the building.

Due to the pandemic situation the SSC will remain closed for the time being. You will find detailed information on the back offices below.

The Student Services Center is open throughout the year. You can contact the Info-Service Studium without pre-registration. The service at the Info-Counter Mensa II (Otto-von-Simson-Str. 26) is available at the same time. The office hours of all further service facilities are listed below.

Students and prospective students should contact this central information service with all their inquiries at first. If your request cannot be finally resolved by the Info-Service Studium, you will be referred to a qualified counterpart in the respective department.

Applicants and students can submit their documents at the Info-Service Studium or collect them by appointment. Furthermore, the Info-Service Studium informs about all kind of questions concerning the organization of your studies and also the electronic administrative system Campus Management.

Allgemeine Studienberatung

We offer talking to the general academic advising service - depending on your preference by phone, video-call, chat or email (info-service@fu-berlin.de).

There are many questions that can occur before and during your studies: insecurities about if and what to study, missing background knowledge, doubts about your admission chances, difficulties with the orientation at the beginning of your studies, the wrong choice of subject, problems with the coordination of your different subjects, alternatives to study termination, the benefit of a second degree or trouble with the bureaucracy – no matter of what kind your request is, contact us!

The General Academic Advising Office of Freie Universität provides the opportunity for information and counseling interviews in diverging intensity and length. Please contact the Info-Service Studium Freie Universität Berlin at first. If your questions can not be answered directly, you will be respectively referred. You can arrange an appointment for an individual counseling interview two weeks in advance, if you have questions concerning "second courses of study", "change of subject or university", "withdrawal from one's study" or "deciding what to study".

You may also get information on study programs at Freie Universität, numerus clausus (restricted admission) and application at Freie Universität at any time from the Info-Service Studium.

The Pyscholgical Counseling Service of Freie Universität Berlin offers individual counseling, training seminars and workshops. We support you in your personal development and with the improvement of your study competences. Students can turn to us with different personal problems, e.g.:

  • Motivation, orientation and decision problems
  • Exam anxiety and fear of public speaking
  • Writer’s block
  • Learning problems and procrastination
  • Stress, overextension, depression
  • Wish and search for therapy

The colleagues are licensed psychological psychotherapists or certified psychologists and psychologists in the training for psychological psychotherapy. All of them underlie confidentiality and treat your concerns as confidential.

The International Student Mobility – Welcome Services gives advice about exchange programs and takes care of international guest and guest researchers.

The Infothek is currently closed.

In our Infothek you can inform yourself in detail about the study programs of Freie Universität Berlin.

There are file folders, magazines and books available concerning all topics relevant for your studies. In the reading corner you can take your time to browse through our collection or use the four PC-workplaces besides.

File Folders of the subjects

The file folders contain besides the particular description of the subject the study and exam regulations and if available the commented course catalog.

Reference Library

You can lend all literature about studying listed in the catalog of the reference library on pawn to read it in the reading corner.

Web Guide

Here you can find a selection of relevant websites concerning studying, which give you guidance for your web search. 


In display are among others the brochures "Von der Schule an die Freie Universität Berlin", "Studieren in Berlin und Brandenburg" (Bachelor), the magazine "hochschulstart.de" (formerly ZVS-Info) as well as further brochures.

The Admissions Office consists of the two departments „national applicants“ and “international applicants”.

The Student Records and Registration Office is happy to advise you in matters of enrollment, re-registration, or payment of fees.

There is currently no personal consultation on site. Please send your request to the Student Records and Registration Office only by e-mail (studierendenverwaltung@fu-berlin.de), stating your student or application ID.

The Office for Students with Special Needs at Freie Universität Berlin offers counseling for students with disabilities and chronic illnesses. It addresses the specific needs of students with disabilities and chronic illnesses during admission, lecture situations, traineeships and exams. It also participates in the planning and execution of the necessary structural modifications, and technical and organizational measures.

Due to the current Corona crisis, we no longer hold open office hours at the Student-Services-Center. We will gladly answer your questions by phone and by mail as well as in our video consultation.

Office Hours for Video Chat Consultation Session: 

Our video consultation sessions enable you to get a more in-depth consultation in regards to your personal case and questions. The video chat allows for our advisors to show you information (such as websites and pamphlets) on the computer screen. In order to take part in the video session you need a computer/laptop or smartphone with a microfone and a stable internet connection. You are not required to switch on the video if you so choose.
