Invitation to the Panel Discussion: Global Implications of the COVID 19 Pandemic to the Rising of Domestic Violence against Women
On October 29, 2021, the Panel Discussion "Global Implications of the COVID 19 Pandemic to the Rising of Domestic Violence against Women" (Webinar) will take place.
Experts from India and Germany shall exchange information and ideas of domestic violence against women in their respective cultures and the role of education in empowering women and transforming societies’ attitudes towards the inequalities of gender. The outcome of this exchange shall lead to refinement of perception and spreading awareness about each other’s good practices to address the issues and challenges regarding the domestic violence, especially in the time of and as the consequence of the current Covid-19 pandemic.
Representatives of Freie Universität Berlin, University of Cologne, Max Planck Society and University of Heidelberg will be available to discuss the possibilities to develop innovative functionalities to foster co-operation amongst experts from India and Germany and explore prospects of applying for joint research funding opportunities.
Among the questions to be discussed during webinar will be the following:
• Which policies exist for “domestic violence against women” in India and in Germany? How do situations in both countries differ and what are common problems?
• How pandemic is a cause of surge to the already existing problems of domestic violence against women?
• What happens after pandemic is controlled but fear of similar concerns with violator/abuser continues?
• Response of the society and the local governments in assuring mental well-being and providing legal and psychological help to the aggrieved?
