COSIMENA Call for Funding 2026 – Now Open

COSIMENA invites applications for funding scientific events in 2026, with proposals due by 15 December 2025.
Within the scope of its clusters, COSIMENA supports a wide range of scientific events, including public lectures, summer and winter schools, conferences, and workshops.
The selection of events follows a formalized application process, outlined below. Once the respective call is announced, interested German institutions, together with Egyptian partner institutions, may submit proposals using the standardized application form. Proposals should clearly describe the planned activity, outline the contributions of the applying institution(s) – whether organizational and/or financial – and include a detailed financial plan. Applications must be submitted by the specified deadline.
Please note that COSIMENA funding can also be requested for partial support of relevant activities. Examples include covering travel costs for selected participants from Germany or the MENA region (in accordance with the German Federal Travel Expenses Act, BRKG), or funding a specific component of a larger event. In cases of high demand, COSIMENA may limit its support to partial funding, particularly for costs incurred in hard currency.
Application Process
- Deadline for applications: 15 December 2025 (00:00 Cairo Local Time)
- Notification of results: Beginning of February 2026 (via email)
- Implementation period: From 1 March 2026 onwards
Applications must include:
- Description of the planned activity
- Draft agenda
- Financial plan
- List and information of the speakers
- Contributions of the host institution (including a written approval/support letter from the Rector, President, or Dean of the Egyptian university if the event is to take place there)
- PR & visibility plan
