FU Berlin at the German Science Day 2025!

Freie Universität Berlin participated successfully in the German Science Day 2025, offering lectures and counselling on research and career opportunities.
On 23rd July 2025, the Cairo Liaison Office of Freie Universität Berlin proudly participated in this year’s German Science Day, organized by the DAAD Regional Office Egypt. This annual event has become a cornerstone for academic exchange, offering a rich program of lectures, presentations, and individual counselling sessions. It serves as a unique platform for students, researchers, and academics in Egypt to connect directly with representatives of leading German universities and research institutions.

Lecture: “Doing your PhD or Postdoc at FU Berlin”
Delivered by Ms. Hoda El Mahgoub, Head of the Cairo Liaison Office, and Ms. Nora Jacobs, Program Manager for Strategic Partnerships and Networks at the Division of International Affairs.
The session provided valuable insights into research opportunities at FU Berlin and outlined key funding options for doctoral and postdoctoral candidates. -
Special Lecture by Prof. Dr. Daniel Lauster
Junior Professor of Biopharmaceuticals at FU Berlin, Prof. Lauster presented his cutting-edge research on
“Remodeling of Mucus for the Development of Antiviral or Mucolytic Biomaterials”.
His lecture was followed by one-on-one counselling sessions, where he met individually with several candidates to discuss their research ideas and academic aspirations. -
Joint Session: “Scientific Job Positions in Germany: Finding Your Way to Apply Successfully!”
Freie Universität Berlin collaborated with Philipps-Universität Marburg and Technische Universität Berlin to offer practical guidance on navigating the German academic job market. The session was well-attended and appreciated for its clarity and relevance.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, researchers, and professionals across Egypt. The Cairo Liaison Office remains committed to fostering academic bridges between Egypt and Germany and looks forward to future engagements that support young scholars and researchers.
