Enrollment in a degree program through a settlement offer

You have been admitted on the basis of a comparative offer and can enroll at Freie Universität Berlin.

The documents to be submitted as well as the application for enrollment can be found below.

The documents listed below may differ from the checklist on the application for enrollment, as the checklist is valid for several groups of students. For enrollment please submit the documents according to this website and use the subject line below when submitting the documents by  e-mail!

Documents to be submitted for Bachelor, State Examination, Erste Juristische Prüfung

Students already enrolled at Freie Universität Berlin use the appication to change programs and submit only the documents according to points 1, 2.2. and, if applicable, 7.

Please note:
Please save all required documents individually and name them according to their content. Accepted file formats are pdf, jpeg, png, bmp, docx with a maximum size of 2MB each. We do not accept links to external storage locations (cloud) or zip files. Send all required documents as an e-mail attachment to the e-mail address that applies to you with the subject "Last name, first name, settlement offer":

These addresses are only for submitting applications for enrollment / applications to change programs. If you have further questions about enrollment, please contact the Info-Service Studium or refer to our website "FAQ Enrollment", as the above e-mail addresses ("imma-xxx@studium.fu-berlin.de") will not answer any questions.

After you have submitted your enrollment documents, you will receive an automatically generated confirmation of receipt and, if necessary, a follow-up request for missing documents. Please check your spam folder if necessary.

For enrollment we need the following documents from you:

1. Settlement offer and declaration of withdrawal of all admission actions against Freie Universität Berlin

2.1 Application for enrollment, completed by you, consisting of pages 4-10, if you are not yet enrolled at Freie Universität Berlin or

2.2 if you are already enrolled at FU Berlin and wish to change your course of study, please use the application to change programs.

3. Valid form of identification (e. g., passport or ID) verifying your complete surname, first name, date of birth and expiration date. You are permitted to black out sections that are irrelevant to the proof of your identity. The copy´s sole purpose is to verify your identity and to protect you from potential identity theft. Once your enrollment is completed this copy is immediately destroyed. The submission of a valid visa copy to universities is not necessary. Further information is avaliable on the website of the Berlin Immigration Office.

Please note: A change of name for Trans, Intersex, and Non-Binary Students during the enrollment process is possible. Please find here which documents have to be submitted additionally.

4. Application for an electronic notification of health insurance status from a German statutory health insurance provider. The status is either publicly insured or - in the case of private health insurance - "exempted from compulsory insurance". Please inform the statutory health insurance provider about the FU Berlin sender number: H0000657. Explanations on how to apply for the electronic certificate can be found here (chip card, paper certificate are not sufficient).

Please note: No enrollment can take place without an electronic notification by a statutory health insurance! Students over the age of 30 are not required to provide proof of health insurance.

5. Certificate of eligibility for university study (German university entrance qualification or equivalent); where applicable, an official translation (not applicable if you already have submitted/uploaded this proof to ´uni-assist`)

6. If applicable, proof of sufficient German language skills (DSH, TestDaF) if you have a foreign certificate of eligibility for university study (not applicable if you already have submitted/uploaded this proof to ´uni-assist`)

7. If applicable, language certificate if your language skills are not reflected in your certificate of eligibility for university study (not applicable if you have already submitted/uploaded this proof to ´uni-assist`)

8. If applicable, last enrollment certificate from a German university, stating the subject and number of subject related and university semesters (not applicable if you last studied at Freie Universität Berlin)

9. If applicable, certificate of withdrawal or other removal from the student register at the last German university attended

10. If applicable, degree / certificate and official translation (not applicable if you already have submitted/uploaded this proof to ´uni-assist`)

11. Bank statement or transfer voucher with the date of transfer for the semester fees and contributions (including fees for the Deutschlandsemesterticket), payable to to the account of FU Berlin:

Note: For transfers from (non-EU) countries, additional bank charges may apply, which must be borne by the applicant. Please select the OUR option (you pay all transfer fees) when making transfers. This is the only way that the full semester contribution will go to Freie Universitaet's account. Otherwise, the enrollment will be delayed because the missing amount has to be reclaimed. In addition, when you transfer the missing amount, you still have to pay the additional transfer fees.

Enrollment will not take place until the corresponding amount has been received in full on the account of Freie Universität Berlin and when all other requirements have been met.
