All the beauty in front of your lens: We are looking for your biodiversity hotspot!

The competition takes place in the context of the goals of the 2019 Climate Emergency Declaration.

2024 is officially the Year of Biodiversity at Freie Universität Berlin. We took this as an opportunity to award the most beautiful photo for biodiversity on the FU campus. Whether it's Dahlem, Lankwitz or Düppel - there are many biodiversity hotspots at Freie Universität: animals and plants can be discovered, for example, on the Blooming Campus or in the Botanical Garden and Botanical Museum. People contribute in research or teaching, like some of these experts at Freie Universität Berlin.

A student from the Department of History and Cultural Studies was honored for her photo entitled: "You can see a peacock butterfly in the snow - a rare sight for this time of year".

We thank everyone for their submissions and wish you fascinating encounters with biodiversity!

By the way: Several initiatives are working to ensure that biodiversity on our university campus is preserved, improved and becomes more visible. Blooming Campus, Blätterlaube and Unigardening are some of these initiatives that you can get involved in right away.
