The Idea & Innovation Management at Freie Universität Berlin is guided by the seven objectives of the climate emergency declaration. It invests in new targeted solutions and approaches to specifically promote sustainability and climate protection at our university.

In addition to energy efficiency measures and living lab projects, we support the personal dedication to sustainability and climate protection of all university members.

FUturist, living labs and student competitions

There are several ways for both students and employees of Freie Universität to receive fundings for their ideas and visions for a more sustainable campus. These include: 

• FUturist
• a student competition
• the funding of Living Labs.

Get Involved!

If you feel like getting involved in one of the different working groups or initiatives, you can find all the necessary information on the Website.

A suggestion system offers you the chance to submit your idea for improving sustainability at our university. Further, students can experience and learn about sustainability in the competence area Sustainable Development of the General Professional Skills Courses (ABV).

Grants, tenders and external competitions

• ClimaClic grant for (inter-)national climate change projects in the area of "nature & landscape", "environment & ressources" or "education & research". Further information here.
