Termination of Funding
You are obliged to notify us immediately if you are approaching the end of your studies.
The scholarship concludes within the approved funding period at the end of the month in which the scholarship recipient:
- successfully completes their university education. The phase of a student’s university education is considered successfully completed when the scholarship recipient has been notified of the final results of their studies (e.g., degree certificate).
- drops out of their degree program
- changes their field of study
- is removed from the register of students (i.e., “exmatriculated”).
In every case, funding ends when the approved funding period has ended.
You are required to submit the following information to us: Please let us know at least one month in advance whether any of the points stated above applies to you, for example, the date on which you will complete your final academic assessment (e.g., submission date for your final paper).
Please bear in mind that we may have to request that you pay back funding awarded for months during which you were not entitled to scholarship payments if you do not notify us in good time.
Yes. As a general rule, the scholarship will end when you successfully complete your studies/your Bachelor’s degree program. You can reapply for the next winter semester for funding for your Master’s degree program. Please re-submit all of your documents during the application period for student applicants. You can find further information on applying here.
If you decide to switch to a different university, but stay in the same field of study, then this will be considered a transition semester and funding from the scholarship will continue to be paid out for one semester. This gives the student the opportunity to apply for the Deutschlandstipendium or another funding program at their new university. This applies to transfers to a university within or outside of Germany.
Please contact us immediately if you are thinking of changing universities.
