I did not select any preferences, but have been registered in courses that I didn’t select. How do preferences work?
When choosing specific courses that have limited capacity, there are two options:
“Präferenz 1 bis x” (Preference 1 to x): “1” is your most preferred course, “2” your second-most preferred course, and “x” is your lowest preference (x depends on the number of alternative courses, e.g., where you can choose from 5 courses, “5” represents your least preferred option). You will only be registered in those courses you have marked with a low preference if the courses you have marked with preference “1” to “4” are already fully booked.
“Keine Teilnahme” (no participation): By selecting this option, you confirm that you expressly do not wish to participate in this specific course. In extreme cases, this may lead to you being unable to complete the module, for example, if you cannot be assigned to another course due to capacity constraints.
Expected to be discontinued from 2022/2023 winter semester onwards “Keine Präferenz” (no preference):
You accept that you will be allocated one of the alternative courses according to availability and have no preference regarding the content or time thereof.
