Alumni Dinner in Taipei, Taiwan
News from Oct 28, 2024
Alumni of Freie Universität Berlin in Taiwan accepted the invitation of the Alumni Office to dinner on October 22nd. They took the opportunity to not only meet their fellow alumni, but als exchange students who are currently spending their semester abroad at a partner university in Taiwan. Dr. Stefan Rummel, Head of Academic Relations, and Gesa Heym, Head of Student Mobility, from the Department of International Affairs at Freie Universität Berlin, hosted the evening. They were there for visits to the three partner universities in Taiwan, National Chengchi University, National Taiwan University and National Taiwan Normal University.
The exchange students all agreed that Taiwan offers a unique study experience - very high-quality teaching, great organization of all administrative support and, above all, incredibly nice, open and helpful people everywhere. The fact that the great heat is now being replaced by a lot of rain is hardly a problem - on the contrary, it makes life easier for some.
On the one hand, the FU alumni were happy to talk to the current students and liked to hear about their studies, their prospects and their experiences in Taiwan. On the other hand, the alumni were happy to share their stories about how their studies or doctoral degree at the FU changed their lives and contributed to their career path and current position - as a literature scholar, mathematics and law professor, professor of musicology, diplomat, founder of a German-Taiwanese company, lawyer in a European-Taiwanese law firm or even in a high position at Mercedes Benz Taiwan.
We are delighted that the evening was such a success and that our alumni in Taiwan are keeping in touch with us and continuing to participate in what is happening at Freie Universität Berlin.
