On 31^st March 2019 the Cairo Liaison Offices of Freie Universität Berlin and Technical University Munich successfully organized, in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the liaison offices of Technical University Berlin and Philipps University Marburg, the postdoc workshop for outstanding prospective postdoc scientists from all disciplines.

Of the more than 400 participants that had registered, 46 were invited to attend the workshop. These participants showcased a sample of the Egyptian research landscape by representing 28 Universities and research centers from Alexandria to Aswan. For these participants the workshop resembled a perfect opportunity to receive first-hand information about the funding opportunities, the programs and services that FU Berlin offers in Berlin and in Cairo.

The first part of the event included information on general funding opportunities such as the DAAD and Alexander von Humboldt postdoc scholarships. This was followed by presentations of postdoc opportunities that were more available at Freie Universität Berlin and the remaining participating institutions. During the round table discussions that followed, participants informed themselves more deeply about the fellowships available. In the last part, candidates were provided with helpful tips and advice on proposal writing.
