Warm greetings from the Cairo Liaison Office of Freie Universität Berlin!
We hope you had a joyful and restful Eid al-Adha break with your loved ones. As we return to our activities, we are pleased to share with you some updates from the past month.
Our office has been actively engaged across the region, strengthening academic networks, supporting mobility initiatives, and fostering new collaborations between Freie Universität Berlin and institutions throughout the MENA region. From high-level meetings to student-focused outreach, these activities reflect our ongoing commitment to deepening regional partnerships and promoting academic exchange.
We are also proud to share some exciting news from Berlin: On May 22, 2025, the Berlin University Alliance—a consortium of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin—was awarded funding for five Clusters of Excellence under Germany’s national Excellence Strategy. This outstanding result highlights the Alliance’s strong interdisciplinary research profile and international impact, with Freie Universität playing a key role in several of these cutting-edge initiatives.
