News vom 17.05.2025
From academic exchanges to networking with students and institutions, we’ve been actively strengthening partnerships and fostering meaningful connections. Here's a recap of some of our highlights:
-
FU Berlin at the a2 International Education Fairs in Morocco (May 03-06):
Hoda El Mahgoub, Head of Cairo Liaison Office of Freie Universität and Dr. Florian Kohstall, Head of the "Global Responsibility" Program at Freie Universität Berlin, recently visited Morocco, making stops in Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakesh to connect with hundreds of ambitious students at three well-organized study fairs hosted by a2 International Education Fairs. The high level of interest in studying in Germany reflected the strong academic aspirations and language skills of Moroccan students.
A key highlight of the trip was the visit to the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences Ben M'sik at Université Hassan II in Casablanca, where FU Berlin signed an MoU to foster academic exchange and joint research. With Morocco’s dynamic higher education sector and young talent, the country remains an essential partner in international collaboration and academic mobility. - FU Berlin Explores Academic Exchange in the UAE (April 13-18):
Hoda El Mahgoub, Head of Cairo Liaison Office of Freie Universität together with Gesa Heym, Head of the Student Mobility Unit at Freie Universität Berlin, visited United Arab Emirates University, the American University in Dubai and The American University in the Emirates (AUE) to discuss opportunities for student exchange and collaboration. The trip highlighted strong potential for future partnerships and reinforced FU Berlin’s commitment to global academic mobility.
A key highlight was the visit to the German International School Dubai (DISD) and productive talks with the German Embassy in Abu Dhabi, paving the way for future initiatives. With a variety of English- and German-taught programs, FU Berlin remains a top destination for UAE students eager to study in Germany. We look forward to strengthening these connections! - Joint appearance of the FU liaison offices in Cairo and Eastern Europe at student fair in Istanbul (February 21-25):
For the first time, the Cairo and Eastern Europe Liaison Offices of Freie Universität Berlin jointly participated in a student fair in Istanbul, engaging with students over three days on both the European and Asian sides of the city.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to showcase FU Berlin as a premier study destination and strengthen connections with prospective students. Turkish students have long expressed strong interest in FU Berlin, particularly in social sciences, humanities and natural sciences, with many also inquiring about doctoral programs and research funding. -
Delegation from Birzeit University visits Freie Universität Berlin (January 20-24):
A nine-member delegation from Birzeit University (BZU) visited Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) to strengthen the Erasmus partnership and explore new academic collaborations. A key milestone was the first-ever Erasmus+ exchange, sending four BZU students to FU Berlin.
The delegation engaged with academics from various research programs, discussing joint projects, institutional networking and digitalization in teaching. Sustainability was another focus, with BZU showcasing its impressive 95% solar energy coverage.
This visit reinforced the partnership, fostering student and faculty exchange, joint research initiatives and further collaboration in digital and sustainable higher education.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all our partners and the participants who made these events a success. We look forward to many more fruitful collaborations in the future.
