Enrollment in a continuing education Master’s degree program

Procedure
After successful application in the application portal of Freie Universität Berlin, you will receive a notification of admission via the application portal. Within the enrollment deadline, which you can find in the admission notice, click on "Accept study place" in the application portal to go to the online data entry (application for enrollment).
- Complete the online data entry. Click here for instructions on how to fill in the form.
- Please save the following documents: application for enrollment, the notice of admission/notification of enrollment, and the control sheet (not control sheet for application data)
- Complete the application for enrollment (either digitally - many browsers offer the "insert text field" or "draw" function - or print it out, make the changes by hand and scan the document back in)
- Save all required documents individually and name them according to their content. Accepted file formats are pdf, jpeg, png, bmp, docx with a maximum size of 2MB each. We do not accept links to external storage locations or zip files.
- Send all required documents as e-mail attachments to the e-mail address imma-master@studium.fu-berlin.de with the subject "last name, first name, applicant number".
After you have submitted your enrollment documents, you will receive an automatically generated confirmation of receipt and, if necessary, a follow-up request for missing documents. Please check your spam folder if necessary.
We require the following documents for enrollment in a continuing education Master's degree program:
1. admission notice
2. control view from online data entry
3.1 your completed application for enrollment, if you are not yet enrolled at Freie Universität Berlin or
3.2 if you are already enrolled at the FU Berlin and would like to change your course of study, please use the application to change programs (skip points 4, 5, 7, 8 und 10).
4. valid form of identification (e. g., passport or ID) verifying your complete surname, first name, date of birth and expiration date. You are permitted to black out sections that are irrelevant to the proof of your identity. The copy´s sole purpose is to verify your identity and to protect you from potential identity theft. Once your enrollment is completed this copy is immediately destroyed. The submission of a valid visa copy to universities is not necessary. Further information is avaliable on the website of the Berlin Immigration Office.
Note: A change of name for Trans, Intersex, and Non-Binary Students during the enrollment process is possible. Please find here which documents have to be submitted in addition to the enrollment application website.
5. application for an electronic notification of health insurance status from a German statutory health insurance provider. The status is either publicly insured or - in the case of private health insurance - "exempt from compulsory insurance". Please inform the statutory health insurance provider about the FU Berlin sender number: H0000657. Explanations on how to apply for the electronic certificate can be found here (chip card, paper certificate are not sufficient).
Please note: No enrollment can take place without an electronic notification by a statutory health insurance! Students over the age of 30 are not required to provide proof of health insurance.
6. certificate of eligibility for university study (German university entrance qualification or equivalent); where applicable, an official translation
7. if applicable, last enrollment certificate from a German university, stating the subject and number of subject related and university semesters (not applicable if you last studied at Freie Universität Berlin)
8. if applicable, certificate of withdrawal or other removal from the student register at the last German university attended
9. degree certificates and official translation
10. bank statement or transfer voucher with the date of transfer for the semester fees and contributions (including fees for the Deutschlandsemesterticket) for the summer semester 2025 in the amount of 326,40€, payable to the account of FU Berlin:

Please note that you will have to pay additional fees for your degree program. You will be informed of these by the degree program coordinator.
For transfers from (non-EU) countries, additional bank charges may apply, which must be borne by the applicant. Please select the OUR option (you pay all transfer fees) when making transfers. This is the only way that the full semester contribution will go to Freie Universitaet's account. Otherwise, the enrollment will be delayed because the missing amount has to be reclaimed. In addition, when you transfer the missing amount, you still have to pay the additional transfer fees.
Enrollment will only take place once the corresponding amount has been received in full on the account of Freie Universität Berlin and all other requirements have been met.
