Studying Abroad

Additional Financial Support for Students with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses

Students doing a study period or internship abroad through the Erasmus+ program and who have a disability or chronic illness are eligible for additional financial support to help them to cover any additional costs associated with their condition. To receive this support an applicant is required to have a chronic illness or a degree of disability qualified as twenty or more. You can consult the Student Mobility Unit for further information on the specific requirements and application procedure.

German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) Grants for Studying Abroad

You can get information and advice on how to receive the BAföG grant while studying abroad at the Office for Training Assistance (Amt für Ausbildungsförderung), which is located at the following address:

Students who otherwise may not be eligible for a BAföG grant based on their parents’ financial situation in Germany may be entitled to one if they are planning on studying abroad. You can find more information on BAföG here.
