WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO?

We are a collaborative urban gardening project in the Botanical Garden of Freie Universität Berlin. We cultivate an edible garden and beekeeping on a 500m² area. We grow fruit, vegetables and herbs on raised and stone beds and in tubs. We are students from a wide range of disciplines, employees of Freie Universität and the botanical garden as well as gardening enthusiasts from civil society. In other words, a very diverse community in a constant exchange and learning process from and with each other.

Sharing experiences and knowledge about preserving biodiversity, sustainable agriculture and nutrition, conserving resources and sustainable forms of consumption and lifestyles are at the heart of our commitment. We have thus created a green learning and meeting place where all participants can contribute and implement their ideas on an equal footing. We nurture and care for our areas in a natural and ecological way, implementing the principles of permaculture. We consciously refrain from using pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.

And you can see what we harvest here.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN US?

Whether you are a gardening amateur or a professional gardener, anyone who is interested in growing and caring for plants and enjoys being outdoors can join us. So come to our garden and get your hands dirty with us!

We meet regularly on Friday afternoons and evenings to garden, learn and cook together (especially our own harvest). We are still active in fall and winter and there is still a lot to do and discover.

Feel free to contact us at: Nils Wadehn n.wadehn@fu-berlin.de or sustain-it@fu-berlin.de

We look forward to seeing you!
