When sports scientist Gudrun Doll-Tepper looks back on her second career as a sports official, she doesn’t have to think twice about the highlights: “I had the honor of presenting winners with medals at the Paralympic Games, and brought people from all over the world to sports congresses in Berlin.” As honorary president of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education and vice president of the German Olympic Sports Confederation, Doll-Tepper has worked on the national and international level for decades to promote school sports, disabled sports, and inclusivity in sports. “This was only possible because I had a permanent base, both in Berlin and at Freie Universität. That’s how I was able to step out into the world.”
