Are there other funding opportunities besides Erasmus+ that I can apply for?

BaföG for studies abroad:

If your studies abroad are longer than 6 months, you can apply for “Auslands-BaföG”. A prerequisite is that the stay abroad is an integral part and needed for your studies in berlin. Please apply for this funding at least six months before the start of your exchange and at the office for the destination country .

Students that do not receive BaföG in Germany are also eligible for a grant. Please note that if you do receive Bafög in Germany, you are required to complete a new application for the funding once you return to Berlin.

 

DAAD

The DAAD awards scholarships to fully enrolled German students and are awarded on the basis of professional qualifications and personal aptitude. The amount of scholarships vary by program and host country. Further information can be found on the pages of the DAAD.

“Begabtenförderungswerk”

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research supports twelve organizations that support gifted students and PhD candidates. The support takes the form of monthly scholarships, grants, language courses, seminars or language courses. More information can be found here.

Private and public scholarships

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research offers an interactive platform to find scholarships that fit your criteria.

Student loans:

German students, and in some cases, foreign stdents under the age of 30 can ask for a loan at various financial institutions, including the “Förderbank der Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau”- information can be found here.

Studies loan:

German students (and in some cases foreign students) under the age of 36 who have completed the 4 semester of their Bachelor’s degree or are enrolled in a Master’s program can apply for a study loan. More information can be found here.
