As the first Fair-Teiler at a Berlin university, we see ourselves as a learning and meeting place in the middle of the campus in the Rost- und Silberlaube, opposite the entrance to the campus library (room KL 24/140). We invite people of all ages, social backgrounds, study programs, professions and areas of civil society to join us in exploring the topic of food appreciation.

What does the best-before date on my yogurt mean? What do I do with a whole box of stale bread rolls? What can I do myself to stop so much food being wasted?

Background information: 30% of all food ends up in the bin and we want to put an end to this. We don't want to throw anything away and we want to use food responsibly. On our website you will find the story of how we came about, further information and interesting links.

What does it mean to be a "food sharer"?

The team

• We meet as a group during the semester to discuss the project (organizational matters, questions, tips and suggestions).

FUdsharing shifts

• "Foodsharers" take on shifts for the opening hours. Don't worry, at the beginning of each semester we check how it suits each team member and we distribute the shifts and opening hours accordingly.

Are there any prerequisites?

There are no prerequisites and you don't need any prior knowledge: all you need is a short in-house food training course. Just a little time so that you can help us with the shifts.

We also regularly organize events and workshops on various topics related to food waste, food saving and food sharing.

All students/staff (and private individuals) at Freie Universität are welcome to join the team. Since students come and go in the summer and winter semesters, we always need reinforcements to keep the shifts and organization going!
