Discussion series of CeDiS, ADA and DHC
Since 2018/19, the Dahlem Humanities Center of Freie Universität Berlin and the Center for Digital Systems (CeDiS) have jointly organized the series Digital*Humanities im Gespräch (Digital*Humanities in Dialogue). Since its inception in 2022, the Ada Lovelace Center for Digital Humanities (ADA) also serves as a collaborative partner for this conversation series.
Rapidly advancing technical possibilities open up new fields of research in the humanities, but also bring challenges in dealing with traditional methods and procedures. While the linguistic sciences in particular can already look back on many years of practice in this field, digital procedures have so far only been used sporadically in other disciplines of the humanities.
But how does the quite diverse range of practices and methods, which are summarized under the label 'Digital Humanities', relate to the approaches in the humanities that are interested in theory and criticism and focused on interpretation? The talks, which take place at irregular intervals but usually on a Thursday afternoon, are each organized around the presentation of current projects and concrete applications. In this series of talks, presentations of new methods and approaches of the Digital Humanities are always linked with current theoretical and research questions in the humanities.
