Supporting Talented Minds with Diverse Backgrounds

Whether you represent a company, foundation, association, or club, are a private individual, or are one of the alumni of Freie Universität, you can become a private supporter and make an important contribution to providing students at Freie Universität Berlin with a high-quality education and help to support dedicated young people during this exciting time in their lives.

The principle is simple: The minimum funding from private sources is 150 euros per month for each scholarship, matched by 150 euros in public funding. This adds up to minimum funding of 1,800 euros per year.

The Deutschlandstipendium Scholarships Program Act (Stipendienprogramm - Gesetz [StipG]) sets out the following provisions for private supporters:

  • Upon request, you can participate in setting the funding and selection criteria, for example by specifying the discipline for which funding is awarded.
  • You have the opportunity to participate in the selection process in an advisory capacity.
  • By endowing a scholarship, you can take a position and raise public awareness. This is also the purpose of the “supporter seal” (Förderer-Signet) developed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which is provided to program supporters for use in websites, letterhead, and e-mail signatures.
  • Furthermore, your commitment to the Deutschlandstipendium scholarships is recognized as a charitable contribution and is tax-deductible.

Supporting talented young people, strengthening Germany’s competitive position, investing in your own future, or giving something back after the support you yourself received – there are many good reasons for the Deutschlandstipendium scholarships.

We would be happy to discuss your options for working with this program with you.
