The career path model at FU Berlin was systematically expanded and supplemented with an additional career path: the tenure-track professorship, which specifically addresses researchers who are in the early phase of their career.

Tenure-track is a binding agreement that an appointment to a tenured professorship will be made, provided that the evaluation criteria specified during the appointment to the tenure-track professorship have been fulfilled and all general employment requirements as well as the appointment requirements for professors according to the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz) have been met. A further job application process or selection procedure will not be needed. All tenure-track professorships are publicly advertised.
