Deregistration

You have successfully completed your studies or do not wish to continue your studies? In this case, you can submit an application for deregistration independently using the Self-Services portal.

A removal from the register of students can also be carried out ex officio by the Student Administration Office if, for example, you have not fulfilled the reregistration requirements or have definitively failed an examination.

Deregistration terminates your membership at Freie Universität and your rights and obligations as a student expire. You should therefore not apply for deregistration lightly, as this means giving up your place at the university.

Important note: Your FU account will expire one week after your de-registration takes effect. You will then, for example, no longer have access to the following FU systems:

 •  Student email address
 •  Self-Services portal with all documents and certificates
 •  Campus management system
 •  Library services

Please make sure to download all certificates from the Self-Service portal in good time, including the certificate of deregistration or the official notice of deregistration provided in the “Documents” tab. Replacement certificates issued at a later date are subject to a fee.
