Funding period: 2 to 6 months

Minimum duration: Internships can be funded if they last at least two full months. For each full month, 30 days of funding can be provided. The minimum funding period is 60 funding days.

Maximum duration of funding: Internships can currently only be funded for a maximum duration of 6 months.

Previous Erasmus+ funding / Combination of Erasmus+ stays 

Each student can receive Erasmus+ funding for up to 12 months per study phase (BA / MA / PhD). These 12 months of funding can be used individually for Erasmus+ (i.e. study and/or internship). In single-cycle degree programs (culminating in a state examination), a maximum funding period of up to 24 months is possible.

Examples: 2 x 5 months study abroad + 2 months internship abroad = 12 funding months

                     3 months of study abroad + 9 months of internship abroad = 12 months of sponsorship

Please note that mobility periods (internship, study) already completed under the LLP-Erasmus+ program will be counted towards the maximum period of 12 months/24 months.

Funding amount

Erasmus+ supports voluntary and compulsory internships of between 2 and 12 months in the 27 EU member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Northern Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey. The Erasmus+ mobility grant is scaled according to country groups and is determined by the NA DAAD.

For 2024, meaning internships starting from 15.09.2024, the following funding rates will apply:

* The following countries are part of the global mobility in Erasmus+, but here the rates are calculated according to those of the European country groups:
Switzerland, Great Britain, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City State and the Faroe Islands: as country group 1. 

Travel Costs

For internships (starting after 15.09.2024) in countries around the world, a travel allowance may also be paid. This is calculated according to the distance as the crow flies between the starting point and the internship location:
