For Japanese-taught classes: Japanse Language Proficiency Test N1

At least one of the listed language certificates must be submitted at the time of application.

These places are not available for majors of Japanese Studies. The program is aimed at students with a general interest in Japan. Natural scientists are also invited to apply. You will find information about the program under this link. Japanese courses are offered to a limited extent.

Program: Japanese-Japan

Applicants for the "Japanese Program" must have Japanese language skills.

Students who want to apply for a research stay at Kyoto University have to present a confirmation of mentoring from a professor in Kyoto. The confirmation must already be available at the time of application

Additional Scholarships:

There will likely be an opportunity to apply for a JASSO scholarship at the University of Tsukuba. However, there is no guarantee that the University of Tsukuba will offer this scholarship or that an application will be successful.

Additional Costs:

Health insurance: ~ 20,000 JPY/annually
