On June 8, 2022, the FUturist-Awarding took place in Lecture Hall 1b and in the Theater Courtyard, featuring all eight FUturist teams. They presented their project results to a wide audience. You can watch the contributions as videos on the project pages.
Professor Günter M. Ziegler and Andreas Wanke opened the event with their personal interim conclusion on the FU Climate Emergency Declaration and what a Free University can achieve. Carla recited her poem, which she had written in the ABV course. Steffen Terberl, Prof. Dr. Inka Bormann, Dr. Mandy Singer-Brodowski, and Andreas Wanke introduced the individuals behind the projects. Each project team had 3 minutes to present the goals of their idea, what has happened so far, and what is still needed. The audience then provided FeedForward. At the end, there was a preview of upcoming activities related to sustainable development and a small award ceremony.
80 people attended the event. Their feedback...
What worked well?
- "It was an all-around successful, varied, and entertaining event."
- "The short presentations by the FUturists with the opportunity to give feedback to them."
- "The get-together at the end."
- "The casual conversation at the beginning between President Mr. Ziegler and Mr. Wanke."
- "Idea presentation, poem, networking afterwards."
What should be added or improved next time?
- "The event was good, but the number of participants was very limited."
- "Offer the get-together more strongly as an exchange of experiences."
- "More time for feedback."
- "Provide a general introduction to the topic."
The total cost was approximately €2800. Of this, about 40% went to the production of videos and photos, about 32% to food, about 15% to drinks, and about 13% to materials (certificates, pens, and gift baskets). The drinks were sourced from fair, ecological, and socially responsible, mostly regional suppliers. The food was vegan and vegetarian and partly sourced locally.
The event was part of the Sustainability Days – Making the Future Yourself by SUSTAINIT.
