Thomas Wiederhold was born in the eastern part of Germany and experienced the fall of the Berlin Wall when he was finishing primary school. He studied German Language & Literature, Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature at Universität Leipzig. After receiving his M.A. in 2007, Thomas went on to work at the Linguistics Department at Universität Potsdam for three years. Looking for a more practical application of his knowledge of languages and their structures, he left the academic circles in 2010 and started teaching German as a foreign language. After working as a language instructor in a private language school for several years, the year 2017 saw him returning to the academic world, this time to teach German as a foreign language at different universities in Berlin.
Thomas is currently living with his family in the lively quarters of Neukölln.
