About us

Since 2020, the Research Data Management (RDM) team at the University Library has been supporting researchers at Freie Universität in managing their data. We offer a wide range of consulting and training services, provide guidelines and information materials and, together with FUB-IT, are expanding university-wide RDM services and workflows.

In addition to consultants and liaison librarians, the team also includes employees in various externally funded projects who are developing and expanding specific aspects of research data management in collaboration with regional partners: These include the DFG-funded projects FDNext (2021 - 2023) and FDLink (2024 - 2027), the projects Concept Development for Collaborative Research Data Management Services (2021-2023) and Collaboratively Advancing Research Data Support (CARDS, 2024 - 2026), which are part of the Berlin University Alliance, and the Berlin-Brandenburg Data Competence Center for Digital Humanities and Administrative Science QUADRIGA, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In addition, we participate in two consortia of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) - NFDI4Earth and NFDI4Memory, in the context of which, for example, AI-supported services for the transcription of audiovisual research data are being developed.
