The Berlin University Alliance Project "Concept Development for Collaborative Research Data Management Services" aims to strengthen services and information structures related to research data management throughout the alliance’s member institutions (Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin). The project will promote knowledge and skills among researchers in the area of research data management and help build up a group of people who can in turn share their expertise on the topic with others. It will also help in establishing consultation and training services as well as creating and connecting research data communities. In addition, a BUA-RDM informational website as well as an RDM office are in the works. The implementation of the project will be prepared in conjunction with BUA based on shared strategies and collaboratively developed plans in order to better integrate the needs of Clusters of Excellence, research projects, and researchers in matters related to research data management services. Two major areas the project will cover are the collection and analysis of data research management requirements and needs.

Funding for the project is provided by the Berlin University Alliance’s "Objective 5: Sharing Resources" scheme. All member institutions in the alliance are participating in the project. Freie Universität Berlin is chairing the project.
