Conflict counselling

During your time as a doctoral researcher, you may encounter various difficult situations and conflicts. The DRS team is here to provide information and advice. To make an appointment, please contact us at advice@drs.fu-berlin.de.
Conflict consultation requests to DRS will always be treated confidentially, and no other offices or parties involved will be informed or consulted without your consent.

As first orientation, please find information on support and services available in our DRS-Booklet "Dealing with emerging crises during your Doctorate" (see below).

Should you be in need of a confidential first aid mental health consultation please contact DRS-consultant Aleksandra Skoric at aleksandra.skoric@fu-berlin.de.

Crisis-ridden supervisory relationships, personal disputes, allegations of data manipulation or plagiarism, conflicts over authorship or data use - these are all examples of situations in science and research that may require mediation. Freie Universität Berlin has established a Coordination Office for Research Integrity as a first point of contact (link below).

DRS also offers doctoral researchers the opportunity to receive on-demand professional external conflict-coaching at a reduced rate (€30 personal contribution to costs). The offer includes an initial online consultation with an external professional conflict coach lasting up to 90 minutes; this consultation includes conflict analysis and first steps.
DRS also offers a corresponding service for researchers in the postdoc phase; the personal contribution to costs for this is €50 for the initial consultation.
To take advantage of this service, please send a request to advice@drs.fu-berlin.de with the subject line "conflict coaching" and a brief description of the type of conflict you are experiencing (supervision, publication, teaching, etc.). DRS will then put you in touch with our professional conflict coach.
