Kim Klüber completed both her bachelor's and master's degrees in "Sensory and Cognitive Psychology" at Technische Universität Chemnitz. Since her studies, she has been interested in the design and optimization of human-robot interaction. Klüber worked as a research assistant in the "RoMi" project at the Technical University in Berlin and the Humboldt University of Berlin, where she dealt intensively with the design of care robots. The idea for her doctoral project developed from the project work.

In her dissertation project, she focuses on a complex human characteristic - language - and how robots can have a positive influence on interaction partners through language. Klüber uses affective communication in both verbal and prosodic aspects to give the robotic language an emotional expression. Since linguistic interaction is prone to errors and communication problems can have far-reaching consequences from reduced acceptance to reduced use, the use of affective communication is intended to both build trust and increase tolerance for robot errors. Laboratory studies will investigate the perceived emotionality of the robot through different forms of emotional language.
