Recognition
In some cases, attainments from before the start of your studies at Freie Universität Berlin, e.g. vocational training, a job, or credits attained from a different university, can be recognized for the field of general professional skills courses (Allgemeine Berufsvorbereitung or ABV).
Prerequisite for this is the assessment of equivalence in terms of content and level, meaning that there must not be substantial differences between your previously attained competences and the ones that are conveyed in the compared module from Freie Universität Berlin.
If there are credits you would like to have recognised for a module in the field of Communicative Competence, please do as follows:
- Read through the description of the desired module (conducting discussions and negotiations or presenting, discussing, moderating or optimizing personal workflow) in ABV-Studien- und Prüfungsordnung (German only).
- If you are sure that content and qualifications of the module are similar to or identical with your previously attained competences, compile all documents containing proof of your decision (certificates, academic transcripts, descriptions of the event or workshop, etc.)
- Consult the director of Career Service (Christiane Dorenburg) and make an appointment. It is beneficial to send the documents before the appointment.
- The Career Service will consider your request. The result will be forwarded to your departments examination board, who will make the final decision, in the form of a request for (dis-)approval. The request will be handed to you, to be submitted to your faculties examination office, as well.
- In case your attainments are approved, the examination office will register them in Campus Management.
