You probably received a letter from Vice President Hoffmann-Holland recently, asking you to participate in a survey of graduates, since you completed your exam respectively your doctorate at Freie Universität Berlin between October 1, 2016, and September 30, 2017 (2016/2017 winter semester and 2017 summer semester). If you are among these graduates, you can reach the survey by using the link and the code sent to you in that letter. Please choose on the start page before you enter the code whether you want the questionnaire in English or in German.
If you are not able to reach the survey using your code, please contact us directly at email@example.com so that we can trace the cause of the error and make it possible for you to access the survey.
The objective of the graduate survey conducted by Freie Universität Berlin, which encompasses all subjects and doctoral programs, is to arrive at a retrospective evaluation of students’ study programs or periods of doctoral studies and use that information to determine the extent to which graduates’ studies and the courses offered prepared them for the requirements of professional life, and where there is a need for further development and continuing and professional education options. The survey also aims to review what opportunities are available on the labor market with the new degrees introduced as part of the Bologna Process (bachelor’s and master’s degrees) respectively the new doctorate programs.
We conduct this survey as part of the cooperative project Alumni Studies (KOAB) together with more than 60 universities and the "Institute for Applied Statistics” (ISTAT). Every year, more than 40,000 graduates participate in this nationwide project. Among others, comparative values can be calculated for single study subjects and thus even improve the informative value of the data.
The cooperative project Alumni Studies also cooperates with the National Graduate Panel. With this nationwide panel, policy decisions should be supported on a national level as well as reporting on education should be extended. The National Graduate Panel is conducted every four years.
At the beginning of the survey, you will be informed whether your answers will be used in the National Graduate Panel. If this is the case, your answers will be processed by the universities organized in the KOAB-study, the ISTAT institute as well as the German Center for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW), Hannover and the International Centre for Higher Education Research (INCHER), in Kassel.
This way, we make sure that different institutions are not simultaneously asking you as a graduate to participate in similar surveys.
Answering the questionnaire may take between 20-30min of your time. You can pause the survey at any time and continue by logging in again with your code.
The results of the survey will be published on this site. Reports from former studies can be found here (in German).
