You probably received a letter from Vice President Hoffmann-Holland recently, asking you to participate in a survey of graduates, since you completed your exam respectively your doctorate at Freie Universität Berlin between October 1, 2016, and September 30, 2017 (2016/2017 winter semester and 2017 summer semester). If you are among these graduates, you can reach the survey by using the link and the code sent to you in that letter. Please choose on the start page before you enter the code whether you want the questionnaire in English or in German.
If you are not able to reach the survey using your code, please contact us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can trace the cause of the error and make it possible for you to access the survey.
The objective of the graduate survey conducted by Freie Universität Berlin, which encompasses all subjects and doctoral programs, is to arrive at a retrospective evaluation of students’ study programs or periods of doctoral studies. This information will be reviewed in order to find out if graduate studies and courses offered prepared students sufficiently for the requirements of professional life. The results will also determine the demand for further developments of the education programs.
The survey also aims to research the opportunities available on the labor market for students holding the new degrees introduced as part of the Bologna Process (bachelor’s and master’s degrees) respectively the new doctorate programs.
The Freie Universität Berlin is conducting this survey as part of the Graduate Survey Cooperation Project (KOAB) together with more than 60 universities and the "Institute for Applied Statistics” (ISTAT). Every year, more than 40,000 graduates participate in this federal survey. This way results of e.g. single subjects may be compared with an appropriate comparative value, enabling the application of a goal oriented management system. The Graduate Survey Cooperation Project is also linked with the National Graduate Panel, which is held every four years. As part of this panel, randomly selected graduates are surveyed. The National Graduate Panels main objectives are providing information on the state of education and facilitating political decisions on a national level.
After login participants will be informed if their data will be used for the national education monitoring. In this case the results will be evaluated by universities organized in KOAB, as well as by the ISTAT, by the Deutsches Zentrum für Hochschul- und Wissenschaftsforschung (DZHW), and by the International Centre for Higher Education Research (INCHER) of the Universität Kassel.
The advantage of this process is, that graduates will be invited to participate in one central survey rather that various individual questionnaires.
Answering the questionnaire may take between 20-30min of your time. You can pause the survey at any time and continue by logging in again with your code.
The results of the survey will be published on this site. Reports from former studies can be found here (in German)
Thank you in advance for your interest and for helping us by answering these questions!
