Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).
Successful candidates will have a focus on modern and contemporary developments in the history, culture and religion of the Arab world and are experienced in historical, cultural or social sciences. They will have study and/or research experience in Arab countries or other countries of the Islamic world. A second regional research focus besides the Arab world is desirable. Applicants should have a strong scholarly record of peer-reviewed publications with evidence of excellent international research activities and experience in university teaching, ideally in an international environment. We are looking for someone with very good language skills in one or two of the languages in the research region. The applicant should be able to teach in German and English. Additionally, she or he is expected to have experience in acquiring and leading externally funded research projects.
Apart from the official duties of the appointee in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the applicant to engage in the following activities:
The appointee is expected to address relevant gender and diversity issues. She or he will actively engage in collaborative research activities of Freie Universität Berlin, especially in the Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies. We expect the new professor to participate in the further development of our Institute’s Bachelor and Master Programs (including study programs offered in English) as well as in the development of interdisciplinary research projects, including international collaborations. Additionally, she or he should be willing to engage in knowledge transfer to a wider audience outside university.

The successful applicant will assume responsibilities in research and teaching in the area named above.
Appointment requirements are governed by Article 102a of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge in the social science oriented management and organization theory and will be proficient in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods of empirical management and organization research. She or he will have experience in university teaching and an excellent track record of research activities, preferably internationally, as well as outstanding language skills in German and English. Experience with third party-sponsored research projects is desirable.
Apart from the official duties that the appointee has to fulfil in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act in particular, the following activities need to be fulfilled in addition:
The appointee will be committed to the research and the teaching in at least one of the following specialties of the Department of Management (Organization, Corporate Governance, Human Resource and Labor policy, Leadership, Business Partnering, Strategy, International Management, Corporate Responsibility and Ethics). She or he will engage in the bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programs as well as in research and teaching within the research focus of the Department, “Organization and Society”. Additionally, the junior professor will engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and third party funded projects of the Department. The appointee will be expected to also address relevant gender and diversity issues.
The junior professor will be appointed as a civil servant for an initial period of three years. Reappointment is contingent upon positive evaluation of performance (Zwischenevaluation) and may be extended for three more years.

Junior Professorship in Statistics

The successful applicant will assume responsibilities in research and teaching in the area named above.

The successful candidate will have evident knowledge in the area of applied statistics. She or he will have a research focus in the field of survey statistics (survey sampling and estimation) and the ability to teach courses in German and English. She or he will have a record of successful university teaching and distinguished research (preferably internationally). Experience with externally funded research activities is required.
Apart from the official duties that the appointee has to fulfil in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act in particular, the following activities need to be fulfilled in addition:
The appointee will be highly committed to the research in survey statistics and network within the research area "statistics and econometrics" by engaging in their research projects. She or he will engage in the bachelor program economics as well as the master programs economics and statistics (especially the module “Advanced Survey Statistics”). She or he will be further engaged in the Freie Universität Berlin’s statistical consulting unit, fu:stat. The appointee will be expected to also address relevant gender and diversity issues.
