Her workday begins around eight o'clock. In the laboratories of the Institute of Biology, Maryam Keshavarz first checks her experiments: How have the bacterial cultures in the Petri dishes developed overnight? How active are the mealworms today? She then talks to colleagues, her technical assistant and the students whose theses she is supervising. She compiles data for publications, contacts cooperation partners in Poland and the USA and prepares presentations. The biologist has a full day - just as she dreamed of as a schoolgirl.
