Solidarity

Kommentar
This course will investigate the nature of solidarity. Topics to be covered include solidarity’s role, forms, value, grounds or sources, and scope. We will address such questions as: is the value of solidarity moral or political, or both? Is it fundamentally a social relationship, or a property of actions, individual or collective? Does solidarity require shared values, interests, prospects, or fates? Does it inherently involve obligation, and if so, what are the properties of those obligations? Are there defective or immoral cases of solidarity? Finally, we will cover practical and theoretical challenges to solidarity. Schließen
